We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join UCEM in a brand-new Careers Adviser role. As the Careers Adviser, you will use your industry knowledge and expertise to provide information, advice and guidance to students and alumni to enhance their career journeys and improve graduate destinations. Due to the nature of the role, experience in the Built Environment is essential. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the student experience, bringing both students and employers together through initiatives such as mentoring. This role also comes with the opportunity to complete a Level 6 Career Development Professional apprenticeship, fully supported by UCEM.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Provide careers information, advice (and guidance where suitably qualified) to prospective and current students and alumni
  • Deliver engaging sessions and webinars tailored for specified groups of students on careers and employability topics
  • Support employers, students and academics involved in placement programmes, developing and improving our offer
  • Advise students on CV and cover letter writing

Our main requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language Grade C or 4 or above
  • Level 6 or above Careers Guidance qualification or the willingness to complete a suitable professional qualification
  • Experience working in the Built Environment sector, ideally in one of the following areas:
  • - Planning
  • - Urban Design
  • - Architecture
  • - Engineering
  • Working in employer engagement or recruitment
  • Ability to deliver online careers interventions, building trust and engagement with clients
