You’ll be joining a high-achieving team that takes pride in supporting GCSE students aged 14-18 to reach their full potential - academically, personally, and professionally. Our students consistently achieve excellent results, and we’re looking for someone who can provide the guidance, encouragement, and pastoral care to help them thrive. Beyond supporting student well-being, you’ll have the opportunity to co-develop a forward-thinking curriculum that reflects the demands of the future job market, ensuring our learners are equipped with the future ready skills they need to succeed.
Many of our GCSE students progress to A Level, BTEC and other studies, both at Nottingham College and other providers in the area. The Pastoral Tutor Team are also involved in supporting enrichment and other college events and trips with our students where we create – and have - a lot of fun.
As a Pastoral Tutor, you will work closely with your colleagues in the ALS, Enrichment, and Curriculum Teams at High Pavement to develop and deliver an effective and efficient tutorial programme.
You should hold GCSE A* – C in English and Maths, or equivalent, be able to demonstrate evidence of managing groups of student, good ICT and administration skills. Other qualifications will be considered in context. As this is a post requiring group delivery of tutorials, there is an expectation that you will hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
You should be passionate about students achieving their potential and be proactive in putting the mechanisms of support in place to make sure we prepare students not only for college life but also for life and work beyond college. You will be responsible for looking after a number of tutor groups, delivering group tutorials, meeting with students on a 1-1 basis (where appropriate), supporting attendance, providing enrichment, supporting social action projects, and liaising with parents/guardians.
The ideal candidate will have experience and a passion for the pastoral care of students and be able to signpost students to the most appropriate support mechanisms efficiently.
This post will have a training/induction period and then ongoing training throughout your time with the college to ensure we maintain the highest standards of education for our students and professional development for our staff.
For further details on this post, which the job description and person specification cannot answer for you, please contact either Ryan Metters or Jonathan Doering by email chris.allright@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk or jonathan.doering@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk
Interviews are planned for: Tuesday 18th March, 2025
