Role Overview
CEG Digital wishes to engage the services of a self-employed contractor as an Online Tutor for our MIM in Management, running in partnership with the University of Southampton. We are looking for candidates with experience of teaching and marking in higher education (ideally at postgraduate level) and a master’s or PhD qualification in Management/Organisation Studies.
The Online Tutor plays a role in the success and vibrancy of the University’s online courses and are an academic presence in the modules to which they are assigned. They are usually the first point of contact for academic queries from students. Each Online Tutor will have a group of up to 30 students. During a typical week, the Online Tutor will lead a 1-hour online webinar, engage with students through various asynchronous online activities and respond and triage student queries. Online Tutors also first-mark summative assessments in-line with the University’s assessment regulations.
This is a flexible, part-time, role. Note that there will be key dates and contact points you will be required to adhere to which are driven by assessment dates in the course calendar. Full details will be provided prior to the start of the module.
The Course
This Master In Management cluster has been designed to meet the growing need for skilled leaders who can solve complex challenges. Having a management background or qualification is not needed for students to apply. They will study key areas, including strategic management, organisational behaviour and marketing. It emphasises leadership to manage change, drive innovation, and make ethical decisions through one of three pathway options: MiM Master in Management, MiM Master in Management (Logistics), and MiM Master in Management (Business Sustainability).
The Module
Academic and Professional Skills for Managers
This introductory module equips students with the essential skills for leadership and effective management. These skills are grounded in frameworks from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Through a blend of theory and practical application, students will develop leadership acumen, academic skills and information management.
Future Modules
Expressions of interest are also welcome from applicants with expertise relevant to future modules of the course, including:
Please see the Southampton Online MIM Master in Management digital brochure for module overviews.
