Head of Access and Participation (Maternity Cover)

The Head of Access & Participation is the strategic lead within ICMP and SAE for the development and delivery of key commitments as set out in ICMP’s Access and Participation Plan with the Office for Students. They will have overall responsibility for the development and delivery of both brand’s access and participation activities including both targeted and whole cohort activities to support access, success and progression. The role will be responsible for ensuring progress against the Access and Participation Plan including oversight of the monitoring and evaluation of this work. Through a Whole Provider Approach, the role will support ICMP and SAE’s wider work to enhance the overall Student Experience and Journey.

Grade: 9

The Head of Access and Participation will be key in embedding a culture of awareness and support for Access and Participation including supporting staff across the institution to understand what Access and Participation entails, including target students, barriers faced and ways in which they can support.

  • A demonstrable commitment to access and participation in higher education.
  • A successful track record in developing, delivering and evaluating strategic and operational plans to deliver successfully on strategic objectives.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with an ability to balance the oversight of a wide range of projects and events and move between strategic and operational priorities with ease;
  • An excellent communicator, able to work effectively with a variety of different stakeholders. ;
  • A proactive problem solver, with the ability to work unsupervised and with initiative.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Strategic responsibility /oversight for the creation, implementation and delivery of the Access and Participation Plan across AD Education UK.
  • Steering the implementation of the annual operational plan for access and participation activity.sh
  • Ensuring all access and participation activity at SAE and ICMP is appropriately monitored and evaluated according to our Access and Participation Plan commitments.
  • Embedding a culture of understanding and awareness of Access and Participation issues for all staff, ensuring a whole provider approach.
  • Provide strategic oversight on how AD Education UK can support students from specific underrepresented groups.
  • Keeping up to date with OfS regulatory requirements regarding Access and Participation.
  • Budgetary responsibility for Access and Participation Budgets across AD Education UK and oversight of financial commitments made to the OfS.
  • Monitoring and reporting on Access and Participation matters, including analysing appropriate datasets and disseminating information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Working with key internal and external stakeholders across ICMP and SAE and wider organisations to ensure whole provider approaches to access and participation and that is embedded within the institution.
  • Working to support the wider student experience through initiatives considering a sense of belonging and mattering.
  • Ensuring student voice across ICMP and SAE is representative of students from underrepresented groups and backgrounds.
