The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Prof. Westra. This BBSRC funded post is available from 1 November 2025 until 17 November 2026. The successful applicant will be embedded in the sLoLa MultiDefence network and will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to tease apart how selection acts on individual and combinations of defences under different ecological conditions. They will also be responsible for analysing the data and writing manuscripts, and presenting their work to the lab, the sLoLa network and the broader field. They will be expected to take part in regular meetings with the sLoLa network and to work collaboratively across disciplines.

About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have experience in bioinformatics, selection experiments, use of flow cytometry, and will have worked with phage and anti-phage immune systems.
