It is part of a US Department of Defence funded project “Brain Charts for children and adolescents with Neurofibromatosis Type 1”. This project is a multi-national collaboration which aims to build a database of MRI scans of children and adolescents with NF-1. The postholder will be involved in studies that compare those MRI scans to typically developing children, to determine brain structure and genetic markers of greater risk for physical and cognitive difficulties. The post holder will work closely the PI, Dr Shruti Garg, and with local Co-Is, Dr Nils Muhlert and Professor Stavros Stivaros.
The main duties of this post will be to aid in the collation, pre-processing and analysis of MRI datasets. The postholder will work with our collaborators in Philadelphia and Melbourne in testing key hypotheses, and in helping to identify relevant prognostic MRI markers in NF-1.
Essential attributes of the candidate should include experience in structural brain analysis (e.g. brain volume or thickness measurement), experience of handling and collating MRI data; effective time management skills; highly organised.
