Junior Teaching Fellow

The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS)

About LIS

The challenges humanity is facing aren't the stuff of dystopia, science fiction, or textbooks. They're happening today - and they've never been more complex and interconnected. Yet our higher education system is still structured in silos, leaving graduates ill-equipped to tackle the complexity that surrounds them. The next generation is now demanding to learn in a different way. That's where The London Interdisciplinary School comes in.

LIS is a start-up university that equips learners with an interdisciplinary toolkit to tackle the complex, real-world problems of the 21st century. With a world-class faculty, five exceptional cohorts and close partnerships with global organisations, LIS is building a new type of education for those who want to shape the world, not just fit in.

We are the first new UK education institution for 50 years to be granted full degree-awarding power since inception, and offer Bachelor's, Master's, and soon an MBA programme that take a ground-breaking interdisciplinary approach to education.

The Role

We are looking for a Junior Teaching Fellow to join the MASc in Interdisciplinary Problems and Methods at the London Interdisciplinary School (LIS). This is an ideal opportunity for a PhD or post-doc researcher whose work produces interdisciplinary outcomes, particularly someone engaged in creative, qualitative and quantitative methods, who is eager to develop their teaching experience and curriculum development skills in an innovative academic environment (extra points for coding in Python).

Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Teaching Fellow, you will:

  • Support teaching across the MASc curriculum, particularly in the Capstone Project module, guiding students through interdisciplinary research design and coding skills (using Python)
  • Assist with administration, including curriculum planning and assessment coordination.
  • Help organise and run events, such as research seminars and workshops
  • Collaborate across the MASc programme, supporting the integration of different parts of the programme and working closely with faculty, students, and external partners

Position Details

  • Part-time role (0.5 FTE) with flexible working arrangements
  • Based at the London Interdisciplinary School (LIS)
  • A chance to be part of a growing interdisciplinary academic environment.

If you're passionate about creative work, interdisciplinary teaching, research, and academic collaboration, we'd love to hear from you!

To apply for this role, please submit the following:

  • CV
  • A motivation statement (max. 500 words) explaining why you are interested in this role, how your experience aligns with the MASc programme, and what you hope to contribute
  • Responses to the following questions:
  • What research methods have you used in your work?
  • What is your level of coding proficiency? Can you code in Python?

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a PhD with interdisciplinary outcomes, with a strong understanding of research methods (creative, qualitative and quantitative research methods, extra points for Python)
  • Interest in teaching related to interdisciplinary problem-solving and methodology
  • Experience (or strong interest) in student supervision and curriculum development at the postgraduate level
  • Organisational skills and initiative to contribute to events, research activities, and administrative tasks
  • A collaborative mindset, eager to engage with students, faculty, and external stakeholders

Benefits
