Faculty Position in the Politics Program

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor or above) in Political Science.

We seek candidates with expertise in Quantitative Research Methods (e.g., STATA, SPSS) who can teach courses in this area alongside other core Political Science courses. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s two undergraduate degrees: BSc (Honours) in Political Science and BSc (Honours) in Politics and Economics. Both programs encourage students to explore Pakistan and the broader globalized world through diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives within the social sciences.

The candidate must have a specialization in one or two of the following sub-fields: Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Economy, and Political Theory. The applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to undergraduate teaching in Pakistan, an active research and publishing program in one of the fields noted above, and a commitment to institution-building. The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the department and the university more broadly.

Candidates must have either completed their PhD or submitted their dissertation at the time of application. This is a full-time, on-campus position, requiring the selected candidate to be physically present, including for in-person teaching.
