This new full-time (1.0FTE) post is available immediately on a permanent basis.
We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.
Summary of the role:
The focus of this post is technical leadership and practical management of containment level 3 (CL3) laboratories in the Biosciences department. Alongside this, the post-holder will manage the day-to-day operational delivery of technical support for adjacent containment level 2 (CL2) laboratories and contribute to the enhancement and increased effectiveness of processes and procedures generally in TS&O. The technical leadership of CL3 activity will be integral to running a safe CL3 facility, requiring a high level of technical ability to manage, advise and maintain our competencies and ability to demonstrate this to regulators. This will be achieved in collaboration with an academic lead for CL3. This new role will involve establishing and maintaining processes, procedures and systems for the technical management of CL3 activities, as well as hands-on undertaking of responsibilities in the laboratory, with support from more junior TS&O colleagues coordinated by this role. It is a varied role comprising desk-based administrative work, as well as practical laboratory and people management.
