Renowned for its commitment to widening participation and its diverse student body, the University of Wolverhampton places students at the centre of everything they do, seeking to drive social and economic transformation in the wider world. The University of Wolverhampton is currently seeking a new Dean of the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing.
As the largest Faculty in the University, the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing has circa 8000 students and almost 500 staff. After a recent restructure, which has improved and built on the Faculty’s foundations, the Faculty is made up of the Schools of Education and Psychology, Health and Wellbeing, and Nursing and Midwifery. The new Dean will lead and nurture the Faculty, as it moves towards a new stage of growth. They will drive high performance in all areas of activity, develop an ambitious knowledge exchange agenda, and refresh and update the curriculum. Reporting into the PVC Academic Leadership and Student Experience, the new Dean will play an important role in the broader leadership of the University, both championing the Faculty within the University and serving as an external ambassador for the Faculty with key external stakeholders. They will sit on University Executive Board.
Strong candidates will bring a track record of impactful academic leadership at a similar size and scale. They will be a proven leader, capable of taking staff with them, working effectively with students, and tackling complex challenges. Candidates will be ambitious and eager to build on this incredible Faculty’s existing work; they will ideally bring tangible evidence of their involvement in enacting improvement in their own institution, especially in NSS scores, student outcomes, research outputs and funding, and student recruitment. They will be able to think strategically and plan for the long-term. The Faculty has huge potential, and this is an excellent opportunity for someone to make their mark.
