This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years with possible extension for a further year, subject to funding.
The Department of Government seeks to make a fixed-term fellowship appointment in the field of Political Theory. The successful candidate will contribute to the scholarship and intellectual life of the Department and LSE by conducting teaching and research which will enhance the School’s reputation as a research-led teaching institution. With appropriate mentoring from the Department, the post holder will help improve our students’ educational experience whilst gaining excellent teaching experience and developing their own research career.
The post-holder is expected to teach undergraduate and Master’s students. Possible modules to be taught include courses on contemporary disputes about justice and on key thinkers or concepts in the history of political thought. In addition, the post-holder will be tasked with identifying the learning needs of students, defining appropriate learning objectives and providing them with appropriate support as well as preparing, marking and providing feedback on formative and summative work, including coursework, exam papers and dissertations.
Candidates should have a very good knowledge of and the ability to teach key concepts and debates within the discipline of Political Theory from a historical and/or contemporary perspective, a developing research record in Political Theory and excellent communication and presentation skills

Applicants should have or be close to obtaining a PhD in political theory or a closely related discipline by the start date, September 2025.
