About us

The Department of Mathematics at King’s College London is seeking candidates at all levels of experience with the drive & passion to deliver high quality customer service to support our strategic aims. We are one of five academic departments in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences. All departments have a wide-ranging portfolio of established taught programmes and are highly rated in research activities. The Department of Mathematics is supported by an experienced professional services team, working in partnership with academic colleagues, as well as faculty and central directorates to provide a high-quality administrative support service & student and staff experience.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Programme Officer to join our team. Our Programme Officers support students and academic staff as the first point of contact for queries, whether face-to-face, via phone, or electronic media. The role is responsible for essential work to support the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and for ensuring that student lifecycle activities run smoothly, ensuring that our students & staff experience our services in a seamless and effective manner. With support to develop a working knowledge of regulations and processes, the Programme Officer is a valued and trusted member of the team with a keen eye for accuracy and detail.

The role reports to the Senior Programme Officer and will work closely with the rest of the department team, as well as with colleagues from the wider Faculty and the University contributing to our high-level service provision and our ethos of continual improvement to delivery.

The role will be based at the Strand campus, in the heart of Central London. Professional services staff are currently working on a hybrid basis, meaning the role holders will spend part of their working week on campus and the remainder working remotely.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), & you will be offered a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidate to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Excellent written & oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence.
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills, maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong numeracy skills & ability to analyse complex numerical data.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office package and the ability to work on new systems.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional & assured manner.
  • Proactive with the ability to deliver within a team as well as working independently, driving own professional development.
  • Curious and customer service oriented, with a commitment to personal accountability & continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to equality & diversity in the workplace.

Desirable criteria

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Experience in the use of databases, student records systems (such as SITS) & website content management systems.
  • Prior experience of working in a customer facing environment.
  • Experience of using virtual learning environments.
