Part Time (Two Days per Week)
As Business Development Officer, you will work across all areas within the university and support the Business Development Manager (BDM) on developments in third stream income generation through academic enterprise, research and knowledge exchange.
In this externally facing role, you will support academic and technical staff, in collaboration with university business partners and other professional service staff.
In collaboration with the BDM, you will assist with identifying new business opportunities, including, but not limited to, educational programmes for skills development in relevant sectors, tendering for commissioned research and other relevant opportunities, interventions and/or evaluations; knowledge transfer and exchange partnerships; commissioned research projects; commercialisation of resources, equipment and/or knowledge capital.
We are looking for someone with a high level of emotional intelligence who has the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels across the University to ensure quality service delivery, demonstrating political awareness, diplomacy and tact. You will have proven experience and successful track record in identifying and developing partnerships; proven experience of working with businesses to identify need and excellent communication and presentation skills. In addition, you will have experience of building relationships in the HE or FE sector and/or the business community; experience of working with employers in the region; strong project management skills with exceptional organisation and time management, demonstrating an ability to work flexibly and to deadlines and experience in the use of database and management information systems.
