We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude to make a strong contribution to the generation, management and commercialisation of University of Wolverhampton research activities.
You will develop and take forward the University’s strategic requirement to engage with industry, generate income for the University and University staff and create economic impact from university activities.
You will have responsibility for project identification, commercial due diligence, managing and assessing proof of concept projects right through to commercialising opportunities through licences and spin-out companies. This will involve taking responsibility for all activities related to consultancy, IP commercialisation, industrially focused CPD and strategic engagement with industry and business. The post holder will work closely with the Research and Enterprise Contracts Manager.
We are looking for someone with a high level of emotional intelligence and have the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels across the University to ensure quality service delivery, demonstrating political awareness, diplomacy and tact. You will need proven experience of managing and motivating a team; outstanding leadership skills; experience and evidence of leadership relevant to the IP Commercialisation, business engagement and Consultancy elements of the University Strategy; experience of leading technology-led projects to market commercialisation and strong all-round knowledge of project management and deep commercial experience of working in an innovation/research development capacity within a university or industry organisation. You will also have a proven track record in delivering practical results and achieving targets in an early -stage technology focused environment; a sound understanding of commercial opportunity appraisal, proficiency in project management and business engagement and a clear understanding of patenting and/or IP based businesses and/or licensing.
