Information Technology Manager

Salary from £62,495 to £72,152 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £79,809 pa inclusive of London allowance

Introduction:

We are looking for an experienced Information Technology Manager who will be responsible for the research computing services within the LSE Research Laboratory (RLAB) which encompasses highly impactful academic research centres -  the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and the Suntory and Toyota International Centres for Economics and Related Disciplines (STICERD) -  and their associated programmes.

This is a senior leadership role which delivers and assures the technology which underpins and enables the centres’ well-respected, data-driven, high-performing research environment. The successful candidate will oversee the continuing development of a secure, forward-looking research infrastructure, act as an expert technologist, ensure that platforms are secure and safe, and deliver improvements to services and support, where necessary.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties will include overseeing the operation and strategic development of research computing infrastructure, managing the IT team, effective project and budgetary management, engaging with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Candidates Should Have:

• Thorough knowledge of modern technology infrastructure platforms, research data technology, data centres, service delivery, cybersecurity requirements, accessibility, and environmentally sustainable practices
• Demonstrable experience and understanding of delivering research support systems and infrastructure, including research computing, research data storage, research applications, and research management systems.
• Ability to set a clear vision and objectives for the team and communicate clearly and consistently to all levels of the organisation.
• Excellent skills in supporting and growing teams that deliver high-quality operational services while understanding and influencing the strategic direction of their service capability.
• Proven ability to work across diverse and complex stakeholder groups to secure pragmatic and viable outcomes.
• Experience of project and budget management within an IT/technology environment.
