Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
The University has flexible location principles, but there is an expectation that this post, will where be required, be able to be on campus any day of the working week.
We are looking to appoint a Data Governance Manager with substantial experience of managing data across a large or complex service operation who will successfully support the definition of a go forward data governance model which then supports the delivery of a new Student Record System, on time and on budget, through a new programme of work, i.e. Project Phoenix.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Data Governance Manager - Project Phoenix will play a key role in the success of the Phoenix (Student Record System Programme). They will take the lead to develop a robust and sustainable data governance capability fit for both the programme and wider university, with the initial focus on the programme. To do so, they will develop and deliver processes, guidance and other services ensuring the University considers and manages its data as a valued institutional asset. This will include assuring trusted, high-quality data for university operations, insight, intelligence and external reporting purposes. The role will also require working as part of a cross-service management group, championing operational excellence and consistency of practice across the University, thereby contributing to University-wide strategies, plans and priorities.
You will provide leadership for a high-quality Data Governance capability in line with the requirements of the Phoenix programme and the wider University Strategy, in parallel to the Phoenix Programme, apply expert knowledge to develop and establish a Data Governance Roadmap which satisfies requirements for broader university priorities and Develop and implement a Data Governance Framework, supported by best practice guidance policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes and data management. You will Oversee good data governance based on best practice and organisational priorities, supporting the University and data accountable roles to improve and maintain quality data and work closely with IT, DPO and other teams to improve and develop structures, governance and controls and processes.
Skills and experience required
You will have substantial experience of data management in a university environment and experience of managing work activities which require a high level of collaborative working, time management and negotiating skills in a busy environment. Knowledge of data governance principles and industry best practice is essential for the role.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent or proven administrative experience.
