Salary: £31,459 to £36,616 per annum : Standard Grade 5, with a discretionary range to £39,749 p.a. This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Laboratory Support and Histology Technician to join our fantastic laboratory support team providing key support to the researchers at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Medicine.

You will be reporting to the Senior Laboratory Manager and assisting on projects in the Institute, taking sole responsibly where appropriate. You will be responsible for assisting the Senior Laboratory Manager in dealing with suppliers and engineers over faulty equipment and service contracts, with particular responsibility for the Histology equipment. You will also be supporting the Senior Histology Technician (sectioning, slide preparation, etc) as well as assisting the Laboratory Manager to oversee all the Institutes Radiation work.

To be successful in this role, you will be educated to A Level standard or equivalent, along with experience of laboratory support in a life science lab, and the awareness and knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements in scientific research. You will have the flexibility to work independently and as part of a team, being highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
