This post is full time, and has funding for up to 24 months.
The School of Computing Science is looking for a Research Assistant/Associate to contribute/make a leading contribution to a project on Low-Q2 detector development for Timelike Compton Scattering (TCS) at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), working with the Nuclear and Hadron Physics Research Group.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
This post will be supported by a Centre for Frontiers in Nuclear Science grant and therefore frequent travel to Stony Brook University will be required.
To be considered for an appointment at Grade 7, you must be able to perform the duties as listed for a Research Assistant position with a higher degree of independence, leadership, and responsibility, particularly in relation to planning, funding, collaborating and publishing research, and mentoring colleagues. You must also have a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) with at least 2 years’ post-doctoral experience in a similar or related role(s), or alternatively possess the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience.
