Role Description
York Law School
York Law School is seeking to appoint a lecturer in law on the teaching and scholarship track to contribute to the design of a new LLM programme which is designed to prepare students for the SQE. We are looking for applications from persons with a strong track record of innovative design of materials and curricular content, to develop materials for the Criminal Law and Practice element of the SQE, including the SQE2 skills. The ability to develop a practice-focused option module on the programme would also be welcomed.
You will join and contribute to a distinctive student-focused learning and teaching environment, and be part of creating an innovative new approach to SQE preparation. As the only Law School in the UK to base our degrees on problem-based learning (PBL), we offer a distinctive and dynamic approach to teaching and learning. Our undergraduate degree teaches the foundation subjects of legal knowledge through PBL in an integrated set of modules in years 1 and 2. We host the Baroness Hale Law Clinic, which provides a base not only for teaching but also for ethnographic and socially aware research into law. You will be part of a friendly, collegial, and close-knit community of teachers and researchers, and will benefit from a high degree of support from colleagues at all levels.
