Oxford University Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE) is seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Student Administration to join the Department for Continuing Education, one of the University’s largest departments with more than 15,000 student enrolments on its courses and programmes each year.
About the role
You will be one of four managers, each with responsibility for a different section of student administration, reporting to the Head of Student Administration (HSA) via the Assistant Director (Professional and Open Access Courses). You will lead a student administration team which currently consists of 17 staff.
You will play a lead role in student administration within the area of non-credit/non-award-bearing courses, which includes:
You will act as the lead administrator on new projects within the Department/University, representing the Department at University committees and meetings and deputising for the Head of Student Administration and for key academic leadership roles as required.
You will be required to develop a good understanding of the operations of the whole department and to communicate and coordinate effectively with the other Deputy Heads and their teams.
This is a full-time position, available on a permanent contract.
About you
You will be the holder of a strong honours degree or equivalent with significant experience of working in the higher education sector or comparable environment. Significant commercial awareness relating to the development of new courses, programmes, events or similar is also an essential requirement of the role, together with experience of managing teams, developing and implementing complex policies and procedures and managing budgets.
Experience of managing the development and delivery of courses aimed at part-time students and working professionals, and experience of managing residential programmes such as summer schools would be advantageous.
