LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university
Salary from £35,758 to £40,741 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £43,604 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months
The Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the LSE is directed by Dr Jose-Luis Fernandez. CPEC undertakes research particularly on long-term care and mental health economics and policy. CPEC is a member of the NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) in its fourth phase (2024 to 2029).
CPEC has four trainee positions available during SSCR Phase IV to support individuals to develop their research careers in adult social care practice through a 12-month research position. Each trainee will spend up to 50% of their time on CPEC-hosted research projects to develop their research skills, and 50% of their time on training and development activities. They will be supported by the SSCR LSE Management Group and a dedicated mentor to develop their own research agenda and a career development plan, which might include an application for a PhD or postdoctoral fellowship (depending on the postholder’s current position).
Depending on the postholder’s skills and experience, they will undertake a range of desk- and/or field-based activities, including carrying out evidence reviews, other background research activities, and qualitative or quantitative data analysis.
CPEC is now seeking to appoint the first trainee. This position offers the opportunity to be based at LSE, within a leading centre for social care research, explore opportunities for future research, develop their own research agenda beyond the position and undertake appropriate training to continue a career in research and/or practice.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates from underrepresented groups in adult social care research. This would include people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities, people using social care services, carers of people using social and health care services, and care professionals. All appointment decisions will be made on merit, following a fair and competitive process.
Candidates should have:
Candidates are required to submit a document setting out how they would like to use this position, covering their training needs, plans and their research interests.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
