The procurement department are responsible for non-pay expenditure of over £200M across the University and its subsidiary companies. This post will contribute to making the procurement department integral in being a strategic function across the University group and continue the department’s evolution upwards on its Procurement Maturity Assessment journey, delivering greater Value for Money outcomes for both capital and revenue expenditure.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Procurement Administrator is the focal point for administration in the areas of e-tendering & contract management, intranet pages, corporate / purchase card processes, systems upkeep and other central housekeeping. You will support both contract and purchasing teams within the procurement department ensuring a professional service is provided to its stakeholders.
Skills and experience required
We are seeking to appoint a pro-active, customer-focused and solutions-oriented Individual.
You will have proven administrative experience in a complex and dynamic organisation, supported by good IT skills, including the use of MSOffice and databases. You will be numerate and literate with the ability to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care, including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner.
You must be able to collect, process and present complex data whilst working accurately under pressure to tight deadlines, ensuring a methodical approach with attention to detail. This role requires that you are able to deal with conflicting priorities and to work under pressure with minimum supervision, dealing with sensitive material with strict confidentiality.
You will be able to communicate in a variety of formats to different audiences and demonstrate initiative and the ability to learn new skills. You will posses a can-do attitude to problem solving, be flexible and adaptable to team and workload requirements and be effective in a team setting, working with tact and diplomacy. This role requires you to be willing to undertake professional qualifications, where appropriate
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent qualification, or proven work experience.
