The Oxford Department of International Development is looking to recruit a Quantitative Researcher who will report to Professor Masooda Bano, and will be a member of a research group working under a European Research Council Advanced Grant titled Choosing Islamic Conservatism. The project is using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to study intergenerational transmission of Islamic knowledge among Muslim communities in the West.

Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the PI to:
 
• Analyze within country and cross-country trends in Europe using data from existing large data sources: census data, electoral data and international studies especially World Value Surveys (WVS), European Values Survey and studies commissioned on Muslim minorities in European.
 
• Write data analysis results in a clear and coherent manner and present them in graphs and other suitable visual methods
 
• Collaborate in the preparation of research publications, journal articles and book chapters
 
This post is offered for one year either full-time or part-time at 50% FTE. In the latter case, the contract can be spread over two years.
 
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s  or PhD degree in a Social Science or Science discipline demonstrating strong quantitative data analysis skills. Current PhD students studying part-time are also very welcome to apply. They will demonstrate evidence of the ability to know how to access government data sources including census or electoral data. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write down the findings in academically rigorous way, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings is essential to this role.
