The Department
Academic Registry is part of the larger Registry Services and is responsible for the safeguarding of the University Academic Regulations, governance and compliance. It directs and leads in all matters relating to the management of academic standards across the University working in collaboration with Professional Services and academic colleagues as well as the Academic Quality and Standards Office. The team deliver training and provide advice and guidance on policy and processes to ensure staff and students are well advised on the implementation of regulations, quality assurance, and policy and procedures. Academic Registry’s main function is to ensure effective communication on sector changes and implementing updates across the wider University community to enhance the student experience.
The Role
This post is 0.6 FTE equivalent and is available 3 days a week. The Academic Registry Officer will work with one other member of the team as part of a job share which will require flexibility as well as supporting the wider team. You will have responsibility for organising major academic offence panels liaising with academic and administrative colleagues. You will organise and act as clerk/secretary to School/College Board meetings and prepare minutes in a timely manner working to strict deadlines. Each individual team member has responsibility for designated roles and tasks yet need to be equally supportive and flexible to encourage overall team growth to ensure departmental objectives are met. Additional responsibilities include working alongside the Assistant Registrars to review student cases who are outside of the regulations.
The Person
The role holder must have attention to detail and be accurate in their work, whilst maintaining confidentiality. They will be given training on all aspects of the role and expected to complete all mandatory online courses to support them. It would be beneficial if you were familiar with HE policy and processes and experience of working within the higher education sector is desirable.
