As a member of the Estates Maintenance Team, you will be integral to maintaining the heart of our campus facilities. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Multi-Trade Operative to join our Maintenance team and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our estate. If you're a proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual who enjoys variety and problem-solving, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

In this varied and rewarding role, you will be responsible for providing customer focussed maintenance services across the University Estates, including:

  • Carrying out routine, reactive and planned maintenance across a wide range of trades, including: Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, and General Building Maintenance.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults across our Offices, teaching spaces and student accommodation.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of building systems through planned and preventative maintenance.
  • Conducting regular estate surveys and providing clear, concise reports to the Maintenance Team Leader.
  • Efficiently managing and completing work requests through a handheld device while ensuring effective materials and stock control.
  • Communicating regularly with management via email to provide updates, Photos and material orders and ensure alignment.
  • Supporting external contractors and specialist engineers as needed for larger-scale projects.
  • Ensuring availability for emergency call-outs according to a scheduled rota, while demonstrating flexibility to work weekends and outside regular hours during key University events, in addition to the competitive salary offered.

About You:

We're looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Skills & Experience:
    • Experience and knowledge of building trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tiling, plastering, brickwork, roofing, and general maintenance.
    • A strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
    • A flexible, can-do attitude with excellent customer service skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
    • While we value hands-on experience, relevant qualifications in building services or a related trade would be an advantage.
