This is a full time (36.5hrs/week) fixed-term contract finishing no later 30 November 2027.
This role involves conducting in-depth research into Power Electronics, including comprehensive literature reviews, industry consultations, and collaboration with academic staff to identify key research opportunities. You will design and facilitate workshops with industry experts and academic teams, ensuring that a clear and detailed work programme is developed to achieve research outcomes within agreed timeframes.
You will develop innovative methodologies across various areas of power electronics, including converter design, device testing, PCB assembly, measurement and characterisation, and gate driver design. Engaging with sector specialists and adhering to international standards will be essential in shaping the research programme and informing decision-making processes. You will also manage procurement and external subcontract support as needed to deliver the project.
As a key contributor, you will provide direction and support to the School of Engineering and partners, deputising for the project manager at senior meetings when required. Your responsibilities will include supporting the publication of research outcomes in reputable journals, attending professional conferences, and contributing to the department's external profile.
Additionally, you will assist in the development and delivery of training materials to embed knowledge within project partners, while ensuring that project outputs are achieved and reported on in a timely manner. Representing the university at national and international events, you will be responsible for reporting back on outcomes to the project manager and research team.
