This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to manage the overall operational delivery for the University of Oxford’s Strategic Research Fund Oxford EARTH; an interdisciplinary initiative building sustainable and equitable natural resources. As Programme Manager, you will play a critical role in leading the day-to-day management and facilitating the strategic direction of Oxford EARTH, working closely with the programme’s director, researchers across 9 departments, and liaising with external partners to support impactful, translational research on climate and environmental sustainability.
We are looking for an experienced individual to help manage and guide the Oxford EARTH programme.
Oxford EARTH is a pioneering programme that will address the challenges of natural resource management essential for the net-zero energy transition. Researchers will tackle issues such as the discovery and sustainable extraction of critical raw materials, bioremediation of environmental impacts, and the creation of resilient supply chains for renewable energy technologies. It represents a collaborative effort across nine departments, including Earth Sciences, Engineering, Economics, and Law, exemplifying Oxford’s multidisciplinary research excellence.
Responsibilities will include supporting Oxford EARTH Management Board, leading the Oxford EARTH Operational team, attending strategic meetings, liaising with funders and project managing. You will also be responsible for event management, stakeholder engagement and recruitment and development.
About you
You will be educated to Master’s degree level or higher, or have equivalent experience in Earth and Environmental science or a cognate discipline.
You will have excellent financial management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and manage collaborative relationships. You will have experience in stakeholder management and in planning, organising, delivering and monitoring events in person and online as well as strong organisational skills. You must have the ability to manage a diverse portfolio whilst maintaining a proactive and adaptive attitude and you should be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, AgilePM), knowledge of University procedures, enthusiasm for the programme’s goals and an understanding of environmental issues and policy are also desirable but not a must for candidates.
