Lecturer in Political Theory

The Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Reading, welcomes applications for a fixed-term Lectureship in Political Theory (0.75 FTE, 24-months), to start on 01 September 2025.

The post-holder will deliver inspiring teaching across the broad field of Political Theory. They will also contribute to student support and supervision, student recruitment and outreach, and to administrative duties within the department.

The successful candidate will be capable of teaching widely across our Undergraduate Political Theory syllabus, including modules such as Introduction to Political Ideas (Part 1 core), and Political Thinking (Part 2 option). They will also be responsible for convening and delivering the specialist Part 3 module Feminism and Political Theory and may be asked to contribute teaching on other team-taught modules containing a Political Theory component. Candidates must have a PhD in Political Theory or a related field and must have experience in teaching Political Theory at university level. Experience of convening modules and delivering lectures is desirable.
