The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) seeks an inspiring educator to lead a new programme, BA (Hons) Fashion Narrative, in the School of Design. Candidates will be excited by fashion and interested in exploring this phenomenal global market through a range of visual and storytelling techniques, other than by making clothes in this non-making programme.  Students will use image, word and multi-media to explore and confront social, economic and cultural agendas impacting fashion and style. The farthest-reaching digital and physical platforms will be encouraged to communicate and promote ideas.

The GSA is internationally recognised as one of the top European university-level institutions in the visual creative disciplines. Based in the heart of Glasgow with connections across the globe, our studio-based teaching and world-leading research spans art, design, architecture, innovation and technology, making a significant difference to contemporary society.

BA (Hons) Fashion Narrative is a brand-new programme within the School of Design (subject to validation) for September 2025 start. This degree programme is for students fascinated by fashion concepts and aesthetics, taking a fresh approach to how fashion stories are communicated through text, image and display.

The ethos of the Fashion Narrative Programme embodies that spirit and tradition, encouraging students to explore projects that establish, nurture and maintain authentic connections between designers, enthusiasts, collectors, communities, customers, brands and retailers.

The curriculum is designed to train a new generation of fashion communicators and shapers to consider and advance creative approaches to fashion narrative and explore a global industry's cultural, economic and sustainability goals. It aims to produce graduates with a sophisticated grasp of fashion's complex, socially enriching potential in a time of anticipated degrowth and climate change. The programme aims to equip students with the critical and creative tools to be professional communicators, pace-setters and change-makers in future fashion industries.

Closing date for submission of completed applications: 23:59pm, Friday 7th March 2025.

Interviews for this post will take place week on Wednesday 26th March 2025 and proposed to take place in person in Glasgow (ZOOM can also be offered)
