The Refugee Studies Centre (RSC) is seeking a flexible and committed professional to work as its Events and International Online School Officer. Reporting to the Centre Manager and working under the direction of the RSC Director and International School Directors, in collaboration with other RSC staff, the post-holder will support the creative development, coordination, planning and fundraising for events aimed at academics, policy-makers, practitioners, and the general public. The post offers an exciting opportunity for someone who combines creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively with high level organisational and project coordination skills.

Key responsibilities
• Organise three, week-long, International Online Schools in Forced Migration, and provide administrative support throughout these events.
• Prepare, maintain and develop the International Online School’s virtual learning environment using the University’s preferred platform, Canvas.
• Promote the International Online School to potential participants and funders.
• Work collaboratively with other RSC staff, including academics, on the creative design and development of new and existing events.
• Coordinate the Visiting Fellowship Programme, including responding to enquiries and applications; arranging inductions.
 
This role is full time and fixed term for 13 months, although applications to work 0.8 FTE will also be considered. Hybrid working will be possible if desired to support a healthy work-life balance (two days remote working per week available for this role on a flexible basis)
 
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in the field of social sciences. They will also have proven numeracy skills and experience of working with budgets, producing financial reports for managers. Experience of working in the higher education sector is an advantage.
