Job Summary:
As a Tutor, you will be responsible for working with students while they prepare for their SQE or other future exams and training programmes. This will include providing students with tools to enable them to navigate the BARBRI course and be successful in their exams. The Tutor role will be a key member of the Learning Team and will establish a very close working relationship with the Operations Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the delivery of SQE1 & SQE2 courses including (but not limited to) workshops, strategy sessions, subject specific clinics, written and oral assessments, tutor calls, answering substantive legal questions, SQE2 1-2-1 meeting pool.
- Participate in 1-2-1 meetings with students as required
- Participate in the delivery of any other BARBRI programmes either to BARBRI B2C customers, or for institutions/firms, online and in person.
- Review and update course materials, MCQs etc. as required.
- Assist in the checking and reviewing of BARBRI PSPs.
- Work in BARBRI’S CRM and LMS platforms to update student records and provide student feedback.
- Deliver presentation assets for law fairs, events and webinars, including attending or participating according to business needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Be a qualified solicitor (on the roll) or barrister of England & Wales
- Ability to work independently and virtually with sufficient flexibility to accommodate the schedules of students in different time zones.
- High levels of technical knowledge within your specified practice/skill areas
Skills and Key Competencies:
- Prior academic or professional support teaching experience or other teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience; and
- Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working effectively with a diverse population of students and staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information, collaborate with colleagues, and exhibit good judgment when interfacing with students and staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships.
- Ability to prioritise and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
- Positively adapts to work environment changes, manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Ability to identify, escalate and where appropriate resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analysing information skillfully.
- Familiarity with learning theories.
- Knowledge and ability to use IT systems effectively.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
