We have an exciting opportunity for a Postgraduate Research Programme Officer to join the fantastic team in the Academic Programmes Centre. As the Postgraduate Research Programme Officer, you will be a key role in the Centre, managing the administrative aspects of the department’s flagship DPhil in Clinical Medicine. You will have primary responsibility for co-ordinating the DPhil graduate admissions processes across all NDM administrative units. In addition, you will provide administrative support for senior management in relation to academic affairs related to graduate administration.
You will coordinate DPhil graduate admissions across all NDM administrative units, advising on day-to-day processes in consultation with the DGS, Academic Programmes Manager, and academic staff. You will liaise with applicants, develop recruitment policies, and organise departmental DPhil open days. Additionally, you will communicate with the Medical Sciences Division on student matters, train NDM Graduate Advisors, and assist in monitoring student funding distribution. Other duties include managing the PGR Academic Programme team and overseeing student milestones, visa requirements, and University regulations.
It is essential that you are educated to degree level and have a proven track record of administrative experience as well as experience in working in higher education. An understanding of graduate administration and funding, and demonstrable previous experience of dealing with student matters, including the provision of advice and guidance to senior managers, good working knowledge of GDPR and the ability to develop and implement appropriate policies and standard operating procedures are also essential to the role.
The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and internal and external stakeholders as well as the ability to deliver high levels of customer service. Experience of staff management and development, including setting priorities/objectives/targets and developmental plans, monitoring performance, recruitment and selection and experience of website design and/or editing are highly desirable.
