About the School / Service
We are Student Services and are responsible for nurturing wellness, supporting individual needs, helping students in crisis, improving retention, and enabling positive experiences through residential life and extracurricular activities. Working in partnership across academic schools and professional services, our teams seek to provide a network of support throughout the student journey and aim to optimise student success.?
The Student Services directorate is led by the Assistant Chief Operating Officer, Health Gain & Student Experience. Our department incorporates a number of professional support teams including Student HUB, Student Conduct, Academic Tutoring, Residential Life, Student Disability and Dyslexia, Student Life, Student Money Advice and Rights Team, Student Engagement, Retention and Success and Student Wellbeing.?
About the Job
The Casual Lettings and Applications Assistant role provides essential administrative support and customer service for the 1169 residents in UEL’s Halls of Residence, as well as casual lettings guests. Acting as a first point of contact, the role requires a skilled individual who can address enquiries related to applications, tenancy agreements, and wellbeing matters. The postholder will also assist with coordinating arrivals, departures, room readiness, and inventory management, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction while referring complex cases to appropriate specialists.
This role supports the Residential Life team’s efforts to maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming accommodation experience, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures, including financial processes and service-level agreements. The position involves managing multiple priorities, such as summer lettings or casual guest arrangements, while collaborating with various internal teams like Estates, Finance, and Facilities.
This position is a casual role, offering flexibility in hours, and weekend work may be required to ensure operational support for students and guests throughout the academic and summer periods.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and proactive individual with a customer-focused approach, ideally experienced in supporting students and managing administrative processes in a residential or accommodation setting. You will be skilled in responding to enquiries related to applications, tenancy agreements, and payment plans while effectively coordinating with internal teams such as Estates, Finance, and Residential Life to meet service levels.
With a strong ability to handle sensitive situations, you will liaise directly with students, guests, and stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and discretion when addressing concerns, such as accommodation readiness, rent queries, or wellbeing issues. Your attention to detail will ensure the accuracy of administrative tasks like maintaining records in systems such as KxWelcome, managing room allocations, and supporting operational readiness.
You will thrive in managing competing priorities, maintaining a calm and organised approach when dealing with deadlines, summer lettings, or high-pressure scenarios.
