Our profile
TU Dortmund University comprises 17 departments in the natural and engineering sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences and is a dynamic university with a strong profile in research, teaching, promotion of young scientists and transfer.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology conducts research in interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from science and industry on holistic methods for the resource-efficient and sustainable design of networked, reliable technical systems in hardware and software. It thus strives to make constructive and concrete contributions to addressing social challenges in the areas of “sustainable energy supply”, “resilient infrastructures” and “demographic change”. The department is already recognized for its research activities in sustainable energy systems and seeks to complement these areas with the appointment of the advertised professorship.
Profile of the professorship
You represent innovative sub-areas of the research field “Sustainable Energy Systems” and further develop this visibly at a top international level. In doing so, you show your willingness to participate in and initiate research networks and collaborations within and outside TU Dortmund University and are committed to promoting early career researchers. You will participate appropriately in the teaching activities in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs of the department, particularly in the field of “Sustainable Energy Systems”.
Your qualifications
You will have obtained a doctorate with very good success and have acquired a post doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or an equivalent qualification. You will have an electrical engineering or comparable profile with a focus on sustainable energy systems. Your research comprises innovative sub-areas in the aforementioned research field and is complementary to the existing research activities of the department. You will have demonstrated your research excellence through continuous international publications in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences, especially in recent years. In addition, you have been successful in acquiring self-designed research and development projects, such as competitively awarded third-party funded projects or industrial collaborative projects with technology transfer. Any care and nursing expenses will be taken into account appropriately. Additionally, you will have the potential for teaching excellence. Social and leadership skills and the willingness to participate in academic self administration will complete your profile. Moreover, the recruitment requirements in Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG) apply. Experience in industrial research or in corresponding collaborations for the technological implementation of research results with industry is desirable. Likewise, granted patents and patent applications, national and international research contacts and cooperations as well as participation in national and international expert committees are an advantage.
