About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Master in Science (MSci) Midwifery with Leadership academic team on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave. The Midwifery academic team are highly motivated and committed to delivering cutting edge professional education in partnership with students and our clinical colleagues and the post would provide excellent opportunities for collaboration and inter-professional learning and working for future career enhancement.
Our approach to the academic career structure encourages a balance between breadth and specialisation. We highlight the central importance of teaching and research while encouraging all colleagues to develop their contributions to and achievements in areas such as enterprise, engagement, citizenship and leadership.
In this role you will undertake teaching, scholarship and administrative duties in line with the School’s teaching and research strategies.
About you
To be successful in this role you will be a Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered Midwife with teaching experience in midwifery practice and in the teaching and assessment of students. You will have a degree in Midwifery or a related subject and a relevant masters degree (or be near completion). Holding a teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE would be advantageous. You will also have experience in the management and delivery of midwifery education programmes as well as an understanding of leadership theory and its application to midwifery education and practice. Completion of a leadership programme would be advantageous to your role.
As an experienced practitioner and educator you will have the ability to facilitate student learning using a comprehensive range of delivery methods and information technology that includes lectures, seminars and tutoring. You will be able to work effectively and adaptably both within a team and without close supervision, confident in reviewing, evaluating and developing the key skills of students and able to develop resource materials to enhance teaching quality.
