About the role

You will join our Master in Science (MSci) Midwifery with Leadership academic team who are highly motivated and committed to delivering cutting edge professional education in partnership with students and our clinical colleagues. Additionally, this post provides excellent opportunities for collaboration and inter-professional learning and working.

In this role you will undertake teaching, scholarship and administrative duties in line with the School’s research – inspired education and research strategies.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be a Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered Midwife with teaching experience in midwifery practice and in the teaching and assessment of students. You will have a degree in Midwifery or a related subject and a relevant masters degree (or be near completion). Holding a teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE would be advantageous. You will also have experience of the management and delivery of midwifery education programmes as well as an understanding of leadership theory and its application to midwifery education and practice. Completion of a leadership programme would be advantageous to your role as would having a working knowledge of UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative Standards and be trained in the Systematic Physical Examination of the Newborn Infant / Newborn and Infant Physical Examination.

As an experienced practitioner and educator you will have the ability to facilitate student learning using a comprehensive range of delivery methods and information technology that includes lectures, seminars and tutoring. You will be able to work effectively and adaptably both within a team and without close supervision, confident in reviewing, evaluating and developing the key skills of students and able to develop resource materials to enhance teaching quality.
