Co-ordinator (Legacies of Enslavement) (Fixed Term)

The School of the Humanities and Social Sciences is looking for an experienced co-ordinator to support a new University-wide initiative on Legacies of Enslavement. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to work, mostly independently, on an important, high-profile project.

The successful candidate will possess broad ranging experience; they will be a self-starter who enjoys variety. They will need to be adaptable, proactive and resourceful in managing a wide internal and external network of interested researchers, and in developing materials and processes to support new ways of working.

About the Role

As Legacies of Enslavement Co-ordinator, you will be the main administrative contact for all elements of the initiative, working across a broad range of tasks in collaboration with an academic Convenor.

Key Responsibilities include:

• support and develop the Legacies of Enslavement network, including public events and associated publicity
• ensure smooth running of the Advisory Group, including communications, servicing of meetings and follow-up actions
• routine administration of research projects including financial management
• management of website, newsletters and other communications as required
• manage day-to-day operational requirements including PA support for the Convenor

This is a part time role covering 21 hours per week, with the working pattern to be discussed. There is flexibility in the days of the week; the exact pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.

• proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite
• excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
• a proactive but sensitive approach combined with strong independent working capabilities

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 August 2027 in the first instance.
