The engineering team at the Oatridge campus deliver programmes of learning and teaching to candidates from across Scotland. Specialising in land-based engineering, the main focus of the engineering team is to provide fundamental skills which will allow candidates to service, maintain and repair machinery used within the forestry, agricultural and ground care sector.

About the opportunity

Applications are invited to the position of teaching associate within the Engineering team at the Oatridge campus of SRUC.  The position is a fulltime open-ended contract.  The successful applicant will have a key role in the delivery of the Land Based Engineering programmes taking an active role in the delivery of welding and fabrication units.  Applicants should hold a relevant engineering qualification at SCQF level 6 or above and have a proven track record within the welding and fabrication sector. A background and knowledge of apprenticeship programmes and the mentoring of apprentices would be beneficial, however no formal teaching experience is required. Full training and the potential to gain assessing and teaching qualifications are available to the successful candidate.

Key duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of learning materials
  • Delivering programmes of education, training and assessment, including a range of practical skills to a high standard or workmanship as well as some classroom teaching to appropriate academic standards
  • Conducting student assessment in accordance with Awarding Body standards
  • Maintaining appropriate records of teaching and assessment
  • Maintaining appropriate records of attendance
  • Provision of educational guidance, counselling and tutorials as required
  • Engaging in the quality assurance of all engineering programmes

Minimum qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate will be educated to at least SCQF Level 6 in a relevant subject or have equivalent relevant experience.
