Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield 

Main duties and responsibilities

You will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, across all Engineering programmes. You will also support learning through design and development of course materials including online content and undertaking necessary tutorial, laboratory and administrative activities.

You will be expected to contribute actively to research interests of the school and develop short courses, commercial and KTP related activities in the school. You will supervise postgraduate research projects and apply for external funding to support research and commercial activities.

Skills and experience required

You will have demonstrable proven experience of teaching and tutoring at undergraduate level and/or postgraduate level in the relevant subject areas. It is essential that you have demonstrable industrial, academic or research experience and expertise in Manufacturing Systems, Technologies and Design for Manufacturing with CAM experience (Fusion for CAM, Generative Design) and with at least two of the following:

  • Sustainable Engineering/Manufacturing
  • Manufacturing Operations Management
  • Manufacturing Quality Management Systems

You will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge within the subject discipline to successfully deliver teaching and develop new teaching programmes within UK Higher Education or industrial sector experience. You will have demonstrable proficiency in English Language, with clear and effective verbal, written and presentation skills that will benefit teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You must have a strong desire and commitment to facilitating students’ learning, utilising and adopting a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students in the subject area.

We will also expect from you a willingness to develop module and programme level material whilst also demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and to undertake professional qualifications where appropriate. A willingness to contribute to the wider development of Engineering subjects including teaching in a secondary subject area and assisting or organising and supporting activities such as laboratory development, student recruitments, open days and outreach events is also essential for this role. You will possess the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.   

Qualifications required

You must be educated with a minimum of a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant Engineering subject or related subject area.

A PhD (or within 3 months of completion) in manufacturing, engineering or a related subject area is highly desirable for this role.
