The Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton, supported by University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an Associate Professor in Medical Oncology with special interest in gastrointestinal oncology. The post-holder will have a strong record of research and publication. They will be expected to develop their own programme of research with support from clinical and laboratory-based colleagues, winning support from major funding bodies.
This academic post will function within the School of Cancer Sciences on the General Hospital campus, occupying modern, well-equipped, purpose-built facilities. The UoS/UHS partnership has excellent infrastructure for the delivery of discovery, translational and clinical research. It is expected that the person appointed will contribute to the academic leadership within the Faculty and enhance the quality of our research, enterprise and teaching.
Clinical duties will fall within the existing practice of the Cancer Care Group in University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust in the field of gastrointestinal malignancy, but the post-holder will not develop a significant additional clinical practice beyond that already present in the Department.
Enquiries and visits to Cancer Sciences School are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting Professor Andrew Davies (a.davies@southampton.ac.uk).
