We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
A critical part of the University's T2030 strategic plan is the opening and continued development of the University's new Barrow Learning Quarter campus from September 2025.
Academic Technical Services is seeking to appoint a Senior Technician (Health), to lead clinical skills and simulation support for the BSc Adult Nursing programme being delivered from Barrow. This will involve overall management of our new clinical skills lab and proactively working with academic colleagues to help deliver clinical skills teaching and simulation-based education. A sound knowledge of clinical environments and medical equipment is therefore essential.
While you would only initially be required to support programme delivery of Adult Nursing, this is likely to change and grow in line with the University's strategic aims for the campus. This role will play an important part in helping us to meet these aims so strong communication skills are key, to liaise with colleagues across multiple teams and build effective working relationships.
The role would ideally suit an applicant with experience as a simulation technician, either within higher education or the NHS.

We offer a comprehensive set of staff benefits which includes a competitive salary, 35 hour full-time working week, 33 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working in line with business need, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contribution.
