About the Role

The Evolve programme aims to provide the University with stable and highly available IT services that enable our current and future needs and is fundamental to ensuring we have the right technology in place to support future capabilities and will provide the foundations for further strategic change.

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a critical migration from our legacy Identity and Access Management (IdAM) platform to a modern, secure, and scalable solution. This project provides the foundation for future transformation and will enable us to deliver a more robust and efficient IdAM service for our students and colleagues. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and ensure the project is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of security and compliance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a comprehensive project plan for the IdAM migration, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver the agreed outcomes.
  • Oversee risk management activities, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues related to the migration.
  • Monitor project progress, track key milestones, and provide regular status updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and organizational standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project resources, budgets, and schedules to deliver the migration on time and within scope.
  • Oversee training and change management activities to support adoption of the new IdAM solution.

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager leading system migrations, preferably with expertise in IdAM systems or similar enterprise migrations aligned to the Software delivery lifecycle.
  • An understanding of IdAM technologies
  • Exceptional project management skills, including experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, timelines, and risks in complex IT environments.
  • An understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts, protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect), and best practices is desirable but not essential
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL v3 or v4 accreditation (foundation or better), PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile (e.g., CSM) are a plus
