Job overview
We are seeking a leader with an established clinical, teaching or research portfolio in health and social care, mental health, psychology or organisational development to lead our Interprofessional Portfolio, including education and training in social work, leadership and management, at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
The Head of Portfolio will play a key role, reporting to the Director of Education, in line management and delivery of the Trust’s education and training provision. The postholder will have specific responsibility for the development of leadership and management training and education provision through responding to tenders and developing off the shelf and bespoke offers. This will include working with the commercial team to develop a suite of off the shelf courses and digital materials to strengthen our work in this area.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality teaching and an excellent student learning experience. They will be operationally responsible for staff within the portfolio. This will include the line management of staff to ensure adherence to organisational policies, procedures and processes and to deliver consistent educational provision that meets learner and organisational sponsor outcomes and the delivery of the education and training programmes. The post holder will be required to work closely with the Directors of Education to manage the resources of the portfolio ensuring efficient and accountable financial planning and implementation.
The post holder will have a key role in developing new business opportunities, which includes provision across the workforce/educational range: academically validated programmes at postgraduate and doctoral level, professionally accredited professional trainings, CPD and conferences. This will include working with the Development Project Manager, and other Heads of Portfolio to identify, assess and implement opportunities for portfolio developments in response to the strategic objectives of the Trust and the Division especially in relation to emerging workforce educational and development needs.
