Job Summary
The Space Environment and Radio Engineering (SERENE) group at the University of Birmingham, is seeking a senior leader in the field of space weather to join our team on a part-time 0.4 FTE basis. This role will sit within the within the School of Engineering, one of seven schools forming the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic growth and leadership of a world-class research group working at the intersection of space weather science, engineering, and policy.
The SERENE group is a vibrant, multidisciplinary team at the forefront of space weather research and engineering. With a strong track record of collaboration with government, defence, and industry partners, SERENE plays a leading role in advancing the understanding and mitigation of space weather impacts on critical technologies.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the head of group in shaping and delivering SERENE’s long-term strategic vision, strengthening our engagement with government partners and other key stakeholders, and advancing the group’s profile in the policy and operational aspects of space weather.
