- THE ROLE -
This post is funded by Invest NI / British Telecom (BT) under the BT Ireland Innovation Centre (BTIIC). The overall BTIIC centre addresses research topics in future telecommunication networks and services with a particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence for service provision and business processes in the general telecoms space and also more targeted areas in Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber Security.
The postholder will work closely with BT Engineering to facilitate downstreaming of BTIIC research into BT Engineering systems, services and products. They will work in collaboration with other Ulster, BT Research and BT Engineering members of the wider research team.
The work will focus on next generation customer service analytics, creating plug-and-play solutions that are based on AI-enabled analysis of optical sensor data. Collaborating closely with our BT engineering teams, the research aims to develop prototypes and technology demonstrators that are sufficiently reliable and robust to be taken forward into customer products and services.
Appointment for this post will be made at either Research Associate or Research Fellow level.
We may create a 12-month waiting list for same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty. The University reserves the right to extend the waiting list across the University if required for certain posts.
- ABOUT YOU -
The postholder will be required to have:
- PhD (or near completion, i.e. thesis submitted) in Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a cognate discipline; OR A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or cognate discipline, plus significant relevant industrial experience.
- Evidence of a high level of competence in programming robust solutions in object-oriented programming languages (such as C++, C#, Python and Java); and in Version Control Systems (i.e., Git, etc.).
- Evidence of a good working knowledge of the following: Data and Statistical analysis; and Machine Learning to build AI models.
