We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax & Treasury Manager to lead the University’s Tax & Treasury section. This key role ensures compliance with all aspects of indirect and corporation tax related to the University’s activities, while providing expert guidance to schools and units. The role also involves managing the University’s cash balances, overseeing bank reconciliations, optimising cash flow, and identifying opportunities for tax savings and process improvements.
The successful candidate will hold a CCAB or ATT professional qualification with substantial post-qualification experience in indirect taxation. They will possess excellent knowledge of VAT rules relevant to education exemptions and charity reliefs, along with a proven ability to manage complex VAT returns and partial exemption computations. Experience in delivering change, enhancing financial processes, and working within a large, complex organisation is essential.
Strong communication and leadership skills are crucial, as the role involves supervising a small team, providing training, and engaging with non-financial staff to explain complex tax matters. Proficiency in using Oracle/Oracle Fusion and advanced Excel skills are desirable, alongside a keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently to high standards.
