Are you passionate about helping students unlock their potential? Join us as an Employability and Placement Officer! In this exciting role, you'll connect students with invaluable work experiences by leveraging industry contacts to find the best placement opportunities. You'll guide and support students through the processes and ensuring they feel confident and prepared, all while working closely with our dedicated Employability & Placements Assistants.

The ideal candidate must have a sound understanding of our diverse student community and must demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development in work-based and placement learning or employability development.

The successful candidate will be part of a team committed to enhancing students' career capital and staying ahead of labour market trends. You'll develop and promote engaging employability activities, coach and mentor students, and collaborate with academic and student experience staff to ensure a seamless integration of employability into the curriculum.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead on the creation and implementation of initiatives focused on work-based learning, placement opportunities, and employability skill-building, ensuring alignment with current industry trends.
  • Plan, manage, and execute high quality events and projects related to employability and work-based learning.
  • Develop strong partnerships with students, academic teams, and businesses (including micro-businesses, SMEs, and larger firms) to create meaningful opportunities for collaboration and student career development.
  • Provide tailored support to students in identifying and securing suitable placements, internships or employment, while addressing challenges related to employability and focusing on the student experience.
