This post is based within the newly established, small and dynamic Student Careers, Employability & Opportunity team. The service works across all GSA Schools and campuses to support the career education, information advice and guidance, and employability of GSA students, providing an exceptional career service.
The Student Careers, Employability and Opportunity Officer will establish and maintain productive relationships across GSA schools, programmes, internal departments, and external stakeholders to develop, coordinate and deliver information, workshops, webinars and other learning opportunities to support GSA students and graduates in developing their employability skills, career plans and gain graduate level employment.
Working collaboratively and effectively with the Student Careers, Employability & Opportunity Manager, the post holder will play a key role in coordinating all aspects of the GSA Careers, Employability & Opportunity Service for our diverse student and graduate body, including face-to-face, hybrid and digital delivery of services. They will also work closely with the GSA Creative Network team and Development team to support relationships with employers, alums and GSA’s extensive creative network to promote and develop student and graduate opportunities and the GSA Careers Service.
The Student Careers, Employability and Opportunity Officer will deliver career guidance for students and recent graduates, advising on all aspects of graduate job search, application, and preparation for interviews and work. The role will also involve an appropriate balance of service delivery, including career and employability information and guidance, 1:1 mentoring, workshops, embedded employability curriculum support, the development of learning materials, and coordination and administration.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, and with a professional qualification in careers guidance, you will have experience working in Careers Service in a development and advisory role supporting a wide range of clients. A strong skillset is required to carry out this role, including excellent communication, planning and IT skills. The ability to influence, collaborate, and problem-solve is essential in this role.
