St Hilda’s College invites applications for a Career Development Fellowship in German for three years from 1 September 2025. Applicants will be expected to have been successfully examined for a doctorate, but be at an early stage of their academic career, and should have substantial and relevant teaching experience. The post-holder will be required to engage in research, to provide six hours of undergraduate teaching per week for St Hilda’s College in German literature and language, and to take responsibility for admissions and subject administration in German and joint degrees at St Hilda’s.
The appointee will be paid on a scale from £38,674 (point 1) to £41,997 (point 4) per annum (University Grade 7, current rates), depending on experience. Membership of the USS pension scheme is offered. There is a research allowance (payable against receipts) of £1,890 per annum, and access to a student entertainment allowance of £420 per annum. The appointee may also be able to apply for limited additional project support through the St Hilda’s small research grants scheme. The appointee will have an office in college and will be a member of the Senior Common Room, entitled to all meals in St Hilda’s, when the kitchens are open. The appointee will be nominated for membership of the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages at the University of Oxford.
