Background

City St. George's is seeking to recruit an Academic Skills Tutor to join the Learning Enhancement and Development (LEaD) service. LEaD is a multiskilled service that supports, develops, and influences education at City, University of London. We contribute to educational strategy; run a Masters in Academic Practice; work with staff to further develop their pedagogic practices; help implement and develop educational technologies and learning spaces; and support students with their academic skills, digital literacy skills, and academic English language skills.

Responsibilities

The Academic skills Tutor post is a 0.6 FTE Part time, permanent position based within the Academic Skills Team. The role will involve working with students, academic and professional services colleagues to develop students’ academic skills. This is done through in-person and online tutorials, webinars, City St George’s VLE, and group sessions within the curriculum. The post holder will be predominantly but not exclusively supporting students undertaking health programmes.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, hold a postgraduate teaching qualification, and have two years' experience of delivering academic skills support to students in an FE or HE learning environment. This experience will include delivering both in-person and online individual tutorials using an AV platform such as Teams, webinars, group classes within the curriculum, developing online academic skills resources, and the use of a VLE such as Moodle. They will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
